The Oban Distillery
The Oban Distillery was founded in 1794 by the brothers John and Hugh Stevenson. At this time there was no town as such, and the town gradually evolved with the distillery and the arrival of steamers and the trains around 1880.
The distillery only has 2 pot stills, which makes it one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland, yet the name of this single malt is held in great regard internationally.
The distillery tours are fascinating and include a tasting - not to be missed.

Staffa Tours
Staffa Tours
One of the most popular trips with our guests is undoubtedly the Three Islands Tour operated by Staffa Tours in conjunction with Caledonian MacBrayne and departing from Oban. Reputed to be one of the best day tours in Britain itself, providing a scenic route to Mull, Iona and Staffa.
One of the most awe inspiring sights you will encounter has to be 'fingal's cave on the Isle of Staffa. Three features combine to make Fingal's Cave on Staffa perhaps the best known of all caves.
The sacred isle of Iona has a long and illustrious history and is well known as being ‘The cradle of Christianity’ in Scotland. While that is without doubt one of the main reasons that a reported 130,000 visitors come to Iona each year, there is much more to the island than that. It is striking to remark that despite the numbers of visitors to the island, the pervading feeling that people leave with is one of peace and restoration.
The Isle of Mull is the largest of the Island of Argyll and the third largest in Scotland, with some 300 miles of coastline. The main town of Tobermory is famed for the cheerful colours of its waterfront buildings and the yachts bobbing in the natural harbour. Tobermory is also well known for being the setting of hit children's TV show Balamory. The town is recently more known for catching a glimpse of iconic wildlife species; from Golden and White-tailed Eagles and other marine birds soaring the skies to Otters, Dolphins and Porpoise swimming in the harbour.
